Previous models of Wirenboard controller (including the 5.6 rev) got three pins GND, RX и TX for the debug UART onboard. To use them one had to purchase special USB-UART or RS-232-UART adapter.
== Physical implementation of the debug console port ==
New versions of the controller (beginning from 5.8) have USB-UART adapter integrated on to the the board. You can use the Micro-USB socket to connect to the debug UART of new controllers. The Micro-USB socket you need is called "Debug USB".
Physically in different versions of the controller the debug port is implemented on different:
* for versions ''WB 6 and higher revisions it looks like a Micro-USB connector (signed 'Debug Console');
* for versions ''WB 5.8 and 5.9' it looks like a Micro-USB connector (signed 'Debug Console' or 'Debug USB');
* for versions '''WB 5.6''' and lower, up to version '''2.8''' it looks like a three-pin connector (signed ''Debug UART'').
Programmatically, in all cases, it is a serial port.

Physical implementation of the debug console port

Physically in different versions of the controller the debug port is implemented on different:

  • for versions WB 6 and higher revisions it looks like a Micro-USB connector (signed 'Debug Console');
  • for versions WB 5.8 and 5.9' it looks like a Micro-USB connector (signed 'Debug Console' or 'Debug USB');
  • for versions WB 5.6 and lower, up to version 2.8 it looks like a three-pin connector (signed Debug UART).

Programmatically, in all cases, it is a serial port.
